The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 16520 is the steel version of the first automatic chronograph made by the maison, which replaced the manual-winding models starting in 1988.
As has already happened in the past, the caliber used is not a manufactured one but is the result of a profound reworking of one of the best commercial chronograph movements, in this case the Zenith cal. 400.
Screw-down pushers and Triplock crown enable water resistance up to 100m/330ft.
The bracelet is of the Oyster type with full links, initially with a box clasp and satin finish. Starting from 94 a new bracelet with a polished central link and Flip-Lock safety clasp was introduced while in 1998 the new SEL fastenings were adopted.
Through numerous refinements and modifications, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 16520 remained in production until 2000.
